1.e4
White starts with 1.e4, taking space in the centre and opening lines for the queen and light-squared bishop. This is a very common move in attacking openings.
1...e5
Black replies with 1...e5, also fighting for the centre. So far everything is normal and can lead to many healthy openings for both sides.
2.Nf3
2.Nf3 develops a knight and attacks the e5 pawn. White also prepares to castle quickly and keeps control of the central dark squares.
2...Qe7
Black plays the Gunderam Defense with 2...Qe7. The queen defends the e5 pawn, but this move blocks the bishop on f8 and makes it harder for Black to develop smoothly.
3.Bc4
White develops the bishop aggressively toward f7 and prepares to castle. Later White can play Nc3 and d4 to open the centre while Black's pieces are still stuck behind the queen.
